The Jersey1st Internship Program
It is crucial that the younger generations receive hands-on, tangible experience in any field of their choosing. Learning and applying skills such as communication, teamwork, public speaking, and meeting deadlines prepares the younger generation to become effective, passionate, and successful in their future professional ventures. At Jersey 1st, we provide just that.
The Jersey 1st internship program is designed to allow high school, college, and graduate students to gain valuable experience in policy-making, advocacy, grassroots strategies, and research. For ten weeks throughout the summer, interns collaborate on a project proposal designed to enhance the lives of New Jersey residents based on our four pillars. Interns meet with key policy actors, legislators, and legislative aids on a local, state, and national level to gain valuable insight into their ideas. The project is then presented to key policy actors at the Statehouse in Trenton, where interns gain hands-on experience in presentation and discussion of their research and vision for the state. Through the mediums of policy research, legal research, social media, and grassroots advocacy, Jersey 1st interns spend their time training and taking steps to become the next leaders in the world of policy. Through professional development and real-world experience, our interns evolve through our program, setting them up for long-term success in their subsequent years.
